High performance, high versatility
With its vast technical expertise, Canon has created a lens with excellent performance in all areas of the image. The CN7x17 KAS S E1 / P1 offers 4K performance and has an 11-petal diaphragm to make out-of-focus images smoother and softer. Thanks to the large 7x zoom, the focal range from 17 - 120 mm and a max. of T2.95, the CN7x17 KAS S E1 / P1 is a candidate for a single solution for every shooting situation. Canon's 3-group internal focus minimizes focus breathing. This lens is weatherproof and shockproof, and is robust for use in any shooting environment.
Designed for broadcast applications
The CN7x17 KAS S E1 / P1 features a digital drive unit, which facilitates use in broadcast shooting environments where cinema lenses would not be practical. Compact and lightweight, it allows easy shoulder shooting with thehandling typical of a TV zoom lens. The rotation angle of the focus ring is 180 В°, balancing both the maximumsensitivity required by 4K images and the speed required by broadcast applications. High-resolution encoders allowfor precisely repeatable lens operation, while with immediate start-up and high operating speed you won't miss a moment. On a tripod, you can take advantage of Canon broadcast demand for zoom, focus and iris control. The interface with virtual studios is also available thanks to the 16-bit encoder output.
Perfect cinematic shots
This lens is also suitable for movie shooting. By removing the drive unit, it can be used like a traditional cinema lens. Standard accessories such as Follow Focus can be paired easily thanks to the 0.8 and 0.5 pitch rings builtinto the focus ring. Also, repositioning the drive unit is very simple. no pre-setting of the dials is necessary. Fluid and creative shots are therefore achievable before not conceivable with cameras equipped with large format sensors. All Cinema EOS series lenses are color compatible with each other, for seamless integration with other Canon CN models.
Camera / lens communication
The CN7x17 KAS S E1 / P1 has three communication systems. Canon's EF mount transmits lens metadata and enables peripheral illumination correction. A 12-pin serial connection provides the typical interface for broadcast cameras. The Cooke / i technology is present in the variant with PL mount and from here it sends the data generated by the optics to the cameras usually used for film shooting.
