Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-35mm F2.8 ASPH Lens

Panasonic has just unveiled the all-new Leica DG VARIO-ELMARIT 12-35mm f/2.8 APSH POWER OIS, a super versatile lens designed for Micro Four Thirds sensor cameras. Here are all the features of this brilliant new all-purpose lens

7OB135_000.jpg

It's called the Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-35mm f/2.8 ASPH Power OIS and it's Panasonic's new all-purpose zoom lens, perfect for accompanying you in almost any lighting situation, thanks in part to its focal length increasing from 12mm to 35 (equivalent to a 24-70mm on a full frame camera).

The new lens has been revamped in the optical scheme to meet the changing needs of content creators and to meet current trends. For this reason, the minimum focusing distance has been shortened and the effect of focus suppression breathing has been more effective. The optical scheme of 14 lenses in 9 groups includes the use of four aspherical lenses, one UED (Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion) lens and one UHR (Ultra High Refractive Index) lens, the latter with an updated design to increase transmittance and ensure extremely natural color reproduction.

As we mentioned, the new lens is even more versatile than the LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35 mm / F2.8 II ASPH.The lens also takes advantage of a new mechanism to eliminate so-called focus breathing, thus meeting the needs of videomakers even better. Focus breathing, remember, is that effect whereby the framed field changes slightly as the focus distance changes. Also dedicated to videographers is the microstep aperture control for smooth exposure changes.
