Blackmagic HyperDeck Shuttle HD: a recorder for desktop
Connectivity and Interface
The Blackmagic HyperDeck Shuttle HD is equipped with a variety of connections to ensure seamless integration with your existing setup. It features one HDMI video input and output, each capable of handling 8 channels of embedded audio. Configuration of the recorder can be done via the user interface on HDMI Out or through the Blackmagic HyperDeck Ethernet Protocol.
The device also includes a 1Gb/s Ethernet port for network connectivity. For interfacing with computers and external drives, it has a USB Type-C 3.0 port that supports speeds of up to 5Gb/s. This port can be used for external drive recording, software configuration, and updates.
Video and Audio Standards
The HyperDeck Shuttle HD supports a wide range of SD and HD video standards, including NTSC and PAL for SD, and various frame rates and resolutions for HD and 2K DCI. It also auto-detects SD and HD signals for convenience.
Audio is sampled at a television standard 24-bit, 48 kHz rate. Video sampling is done at 4:2:2 YUV with 10-bit color precision. The device supports REC 601 and REC 709 color spaces.
Media Compatibility and Codecs
The device features an SD card slot and a USB-C 3.0 expansion port for external recording of SD, HD, and 2K DCI. It supports UHS-I and UHS-II SD cards and can format media to ExFAT (Windows/Mac) or HFS+ (Mac) file systems.
The HyperDeck Shuttle HD supports a variety of codecs, including ProRes QuickTime, DNxHD, and H.264 for various formats up to 1080p60.
Control and Teleprompter Support
The built-in control panel includes 10 buttons for transport and device control, plus a metal search dial. External control is also supported via HDMI start/stop, timecode run, and the Blackmagic HyperDeck Ethernet Protocol. The device also supports remote FTP file upload.
The teleprompter feature supports multiple rates, defaulting to the highest rate. It supports rich text (.rtf) and plain text (.txt) file formats.
Software
The Blackmagic HyperDeck Shuttle HD runs on the Blackmagic OS and includes the Blackmagic HyperDeck Setup software. The internal software can be upgraded at system start or via the Blackmagic HyperDeck Setup using the USB port.
