This unit expands your C500 Mark II to work as a full-sized production camera by adding two 3-pin XLR connectors for audio input. The V-mount battery plate incorporates a D-Tap output to power accessories.
The Genlock / Sync Out port accepts a genlock signal which the camera needs to maintain the same time base as the other equipment receiving the genlock signal. The remote B port allows you to control the camera using the RS-422 protocol, while the Ethernet port allows you to connect the camera to a LAN for control and live streaming applications. The DC output port provides power for accessories, while the lens control port allows interfacing with selected lenses. The ports have rubber covers to protect the connectors from dust infiltration when not in use.
Genlock is the backbone of live / broadcast production as it ensures that all production equipment, cameras and switchers work in phase with each other. This prevents skipping images or black frames when switching between sources. The expansion unit can power its ports and your camera via the integrated V-mount. However, the adapter cannot be powered from the camera, as the XLR connectors, DC power port and lens port can only be powered by a V-mount battery and not the camera body.
